Is it too late to say "May the odds be ever in your favour" ???

THE HUNGER GAMES

I am proud to say, that I, Victoria am an official fan of THG! I have read all the books and seen the movies that have come out so far. I guess this post will jus be me ranting on about the movies and books, so unless you're not that crazy as I am about the dystopian set trilogy, then please stay and read on...

To me, the hunger games opened my eyes to the wider world of Earth and it's politics. It actually made me quite curious, as to the resemblance of the government in the fictional books and the government present day. I realised that we might judge instantly and say "Imagine if this happened in the future," well, to a certain extent it is already happening! I know you may think I am throwing out ideas with no support of evidence, but to those small number of people, who view my blog (thank you!), I say that our government is slightly alike to the one Katniss Everdeen lives with. The poverty in the book based around Panem (America) is more extreme than in the present day America. . I believe that if our politicians and world leaders were not that much alike to president snow, then there would not be starving children in lower economically developed countries (LEDCs). Politics has provided us with many pro's in our societies, but nevertheless, there are con's. The positive outcomes of law that have affected us in a great way are laws that prevent violence, discrimination and racism. For this we should be grateful, in my honest opinion. If it had not been for theses laws, we would be living in rougher countries and would have to experience fright within societies. I just wish that one day people could live in peace EVERYWHERE in the world, without having to feel the fear of loosing loved ones or things most precious to them. War - does it ever end?

The Hunger Games book I found very intriguing. This was probably because it was the first ever dystopian genre that I had read. The book was quite long to me at first, and when I found out it was a trilogy, oh the joy! ;) I had set myself even more homework! The movie missed out a lot of the most important things mentioned in the book, e.g. where the pin came from and the mayors daughter. But I have to say, I was still impressed to see how they formed the movie so that it could be a 12 rating! I found the books more violent and open than the movie. All in all, I give the book a 9/10 and the movie 8.5/10 :)
